Iowa International Center Dialogue Series Presents "Worth a Thousand Words: Bringing People and Cultures Together Through Photography"
DES MOINES, IOWA (Nov. 9, 2017) — The Iowa International Center (IIC) and Meredith Corporation (NYSE: MDP; meredith.com) will continue the third season of the Dialogue Series with the program, “Worth a Thousand Words: Bringing People and Cultures Together Through Photography,”on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from Noon to 1 p.m. in the Meredith Conference Core at 1716 Locust Street in Des Moines. The free cultural program is open to the public.
Attendees of November’s Dialogue program will hear from popular Des Moines photographer, Mirza Kudic, a refugee and veteran of the Iraq War. At age 14, Kudic and his parents fled the Bosnian War to the United States. Kudic graduated from high school and served in the U.S. Army for four years. After serving in Iraq, he found readjusting to civilian life difficult. Photography helped him rediscover his purpose.
Kudic garnered a large social media following for his photos of Des Moines, so he formed Des Moines Photo Adventures, which brings people across Iowa together for free photography lessons from him. In the Dialogue program, Kudic will discuss Des Moines Photo Adventures and the positive impact it’s made on his own life.
This program is part of the third season of the IIC and Meredith’s partnership to bring the Dialogue Series to Central Iowans. The popular programming offers the public opportunities to engage locally and discuss diverse cultural and international topics with fellow community members.
All programs will take place at Meredith’s headquarters, 1716 Locust Street, in downtown Des Moines. Free parking is available in the on-site parking ramp at 17th and Locust Streets, open for public use from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on scheduled program days. Signage in the parking ramp will direct people to the Conference Core.
