Des Moines Performing Arts Invested Show Earns Top Tony Award Honors
DES MOINES, IA — The Broadway League and The American Theatre Wing announced the 2018 Tony Award winners during a televised ceremony Sunday evening (June 10). Des Moines Performing Arts (DMPA) has invested in two winning shows (The Band's Visit and Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical) as part of the Independent Presenters Network (IPN), a consortium of 40 leading Broadway presenters, theaters and performing arts centers. THE BAND’S VISIT was the most awarded show of the evening with a total of 10 awards including Best Musical. Spongebob Squarepants: The Musical won Best Scenic Design of a Musical (David Zinn). Awards for each show are as follows:
