Dee Zee to Host Manufacturing Day Event for Students on October 5
DES MOINES, IOWA (September 17, 2018) –Dee Zee, Inc. will open its doors on Friday, October 5, 2018, from 9:00am-1:00pm to State Legislators and 200 students from local schools such as Ankeny Centennial High School, Collins-Maxwell Community Schools, Valley High School, Indianola High School, Iowa Western Community College, and Iowa State University. In celebration of Manufacturing Day, in an effort to change people’s perceptions about today’s manufacturing environment and draw attention to the outstanding opportunities that a career in manufacturing can provide, Dee Zee has planned activities including a welcome presentation, tours of three facilities, a student hands-on product build, and lunch.
Manufacturing Day is a national event that occurs annually executed at the local level supported by thousands of manufacturers as they host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses, plant tours and presentations designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers. To mark the event, Iowa has declared October as Manufacturing Month.
“There is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector who can design, program, and operate technology,” said Denise Waddingham, Corporate Relations Manager at Dee Zee, Inc. “The average age of a manufacturing employee is 56, and between now and 2020 there will be an unprecedented shortage of skilled workers who will need to be replaced.”
