Joni Ploeger brings over six years of experience to Davis Brown where she will practice in the Workers’ Compensation department. Joni represents clients in their workers’ compensation matters in all phases from the first report of injury, to risk assessment, hearings before the Iowa Workers’ Compensation Commissioner, and appeals before Iowa district courts, Iowa Court of Appeals, and Iowa Supreme Court. Joni earned her law degree at Drake University Law School and her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa.
Kassandra Ricklefs joins the Intellectual Property department where she will assist clients with their patent, trademark, and copyright matters. Originally from Webster City, Kassie earned a B.S. in Food Science from Iowa State University. She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law with high distinction in May 2018. During her final year of law school, Kassie’s team won “Overall Best Team” at the Cardozo/BMI Entertainment and Media Law Moot Court Competition. She also participated in the Medical Innovation Group collaborating with students from the colleges of business, engineering, law, and medicine to find innovative solutions to medical needs.
Olivia Slater will practice in the Litigation Division assisting with matters in the health, labor and employment, business, commercial litigation, and insurance defense departments. Olivia grew up in Ankeny and studied linguistics and Spanish at the University of Iowa. She graduated from Drake University Law School with high honors in May 2018. Olivia served as Executive Editor of the Drake Law Review and authored “Does Every Dog Really Have Its Day?: A Closer Look at the Inequity of Iowa’s Breed-Specific Legislation” in the 2018 edition of the journal. During her final semester of law school, Olivia externed for Chief Justice Mark Cady on the Iowa Supreme Court.
