Clive Historical Mural to be Unveiled
The Clive Public Art Commission, in partnership with the Clive Historical Society is preparing to unveil a new piece of public art for the City of Clive. The unveiling event, held in conjunction with the Clive Chamber After Hours, will take place at Swanson Memorial Park on Thursday, June 7th. The park is located at 8615 Swanson Blvd. in Clive, and the event starts at 4:30 pm, with a short ceremony and unveiling at 5:15 pm.
Iowa artist Dan Hatala from Waverly, IA is creating a nostalgic mural that will celebrate the history of Clive. A native Iowan, Dan has spent his entire working career as an artist. After studying commercial art. Dan was hired as an Art Director for a Midwest agency. He became a Senior Illustrator for a well know art studio that allowed him to work with many national brands. Dan has a unique vintage style to his artwork which draws people in to the murals he creates.
The mural project is funded by the Clive Historical Society and the Clive Community Foundation. The public is invited to the event which will also be celebrating the 7th Annual Art Along the Trail program.
About the Clive Public Art Commission
The Clive Public Arts Advisory Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters pertaining to visual public art within the city. The Commission develops a general policy for inclusion and approval of visual art in public places and projects as well as informs and educates the public about the importance and need for visual arts integration within public spaces, including parks, green space, and city facilities.
