Partnership Virtual Investor Briefing: May 6, 2020

May 6 Investor Briefing

May 20, 2020

On Wednesday, May 6, the Greater Des Moines Partnership hosted a weekly Investor and Member Briefing. During the conversation, Investors and Members learned more about the short-term initiatives we are focusing on during the COVID-19 pandemic: keeping businesses in business, keeping people working and keeping the Greater Des Moines (DSM) community healthy and safe.

Chief Strategy Officer Tiffany Tauscheck provided updates on the DSM Day of Thanks, #DSMstrong initiative and two upcoming virtual events including the Downtown Farmers’ Market’s Virtual Market Meet-Up and In for Lunch. I shared Small Business Recovery Grants updates and information about DSM Forward.

Small Business Recovery Grants

The Partnership is still accepting applications for the Small Business Recovery Grant through Wednesday, May 20. These grants are for sole proprietors or businesses with 0-30 employees and must have been in operation since July 1, 2019. DSM small businesses can find more eligibility information and apply here.

DSM Forward

I discussed the upcoming release of the DSM Forward playbooks that are being created to help businesses and industries prepare for next steps related to economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. DSM Forward will include industry-specific playbooks and business function playbooks with recommendations — leveraging international, national, state and local sources and following federal, state and local public health official recommendations — to help guide businesses and organizations as they determine pathways toward the future in an everchanging landscape. The playbooks will be guided by input from the DSM Forward Task Force made up of Greater Des Moines Partnership Board Members, Capital Crossroads leadership and other industry leaders. The Partnership has been working with Bâton Global (B|G) to guide this process, which included extensive feedback from business, industry and community leaders and the community at-large. Matthew Mitchell shared how specific guidance for professionals and industries will assist recovery in DSM. B|G focuses on current and future trends, recommended practices and community partnerships, encouraging an offensive strategy of innovation.
