Greater Des Moines Partnership Wins Two Mid-America Economic Development Council Awards
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Dec. 12, 2024) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership received two awards at the 2024 Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC) Annual Economic Development Awards, celebrating exceptional achievements in fostering economic growth, innovation and community impact.
The Partnership received the “Entrepreneurial Award – Large Division” for the Spark DSM Business Incubator Program which uplifts local startups and small businesses by connecting them with major community events, including the Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines and the World Food & Music Festival presented by Veridian Credit Union. Since its 2022 launch, the program has fostered economic growth and inclusivity, helping over 70 entrepreneurs gain exposure and business support through technical assistance, financial aid and personalized marketing opportunities. Spark DSM has become a model for community-driven growth, with participants transitioning to full-time market vendors and even opening storefronts.
Additionally, The Partnership earned the “Marketing Program Award – Large Division” for its Do Something Greater campaign. The campaign is a multifaceted initiative designed to attract talent and drive economic growth in Greater Des Moines (DSM). This campaign promotes DSM as a place for both personal and business growth, supporting talent recruitment through storytelling, digital ads and resources like a branded website and relocation guide. Since its 2023 launch, the campaign has garnered over 425,000 users on its talent website, with visitors from all 50 states and over 190 countries, and it continues to bolster DSM’s reputation as a top growth destination.
“We are honored to have received these two awards from the Mid-America Economic Development Council,” said Stacie LoVan, Senior Vice President of Economic Development at The Partnership. “These awards demonstrate that our programming is best-in-class and help our region stand out regionally and nationally as a top place for economic development activity.”
