“Fall” In Love With The Downtown Farmers’ Market As October Hours Begin; Winter Market Dates Announced
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Oct. 1, 2024) – The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines will begin its October hours of 8 a.m. – Noon this Saturday, instead of its usual 7 a.m. start. The later start gives vendors ample time in the daylight to prepare their stands for the arrival of Market patrons.
"As the fall season settles in, we're excited to offer a wide range of autumn-inspired goods, perfect for the upcoming holidays," said Downtown Farmers’ Market Manager Elizabeth Weyers. "From fresh seasonal produce like sweet potatoes, squash and apples, to festive treats like caramel apples and cider, The Market is filled with fall favorites. Visitors can find everything they need to celebrate the season while continuing to support local vendors from all over the region."
Over the next four Saturdays in October, fall produce will be plentiful and will include sweet potatoes, butternut squash, beets, garlic, apples and fall-themed baked goods and treats such as caramel apples, apple cider, apple pie, pumpkins, fall mums, unique gourds, flowers and plants — and so much more.
In addition to the normal Market season, the Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines will return Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24. Vendors at The Winter Market will feature late-season produce, holiday gifts, baked goods and more. Stay tuned for updates on the 2024 vendors and programming.
The Winter Market will be indoors in Hall C at the Iowa Events Center in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Winter Market hours will be Friday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. This festive event is free and open to the public and is a great way to prepare for upcoming holiday gatherings.
“We are excited to be part of this year’s Winter Farmers’ Market as it continues to bring the community together while supporting small businesses and offering fresh, seasonal products,” said Jon Rozenfeld, President of UnityPoint Health – Des Moines. "This three-day event, rooted in holiday spirit, is a wonderful way for residents and visitors alike to connect, celebrate, and experience all the Market has to offer.”
The 2024 Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market is sponsored by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, Prairie Meadows, Vero Health Center and Metronet.
