Partnership Event to Connect Small Businesses, Government Agencies

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Oct. 13, 2022) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership will host an event called Creating Opportunities: Agency Outreach to Minority and Small Businesses on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Creating Opportunities is an experience where businesses can network and develop relationships with local government agencies and other businesses in the government contracting space. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at Holiday Inn – Des Moines Downtown.

The event will include short briefings from each agency highlighting how minority and small businesses can do business with them. Featured agencies include:

  • Des Moines Airport Authority
  • City of Des Moines 
  • Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART)
  • Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT)
  • Iowa Economic Development Authority
  • (IEDA) Small Business Administration (SBA)
  • The Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS)

The event will also include networking opportunities for minority and small business attendees and representatives from the agencies.

“Businesses throughout the region offer products and services that can help a wide range of industries including those in the public sector, and the two parties often just need an introduction to discover a win-win partnership,” said Meg Schneider, Senior Vice President of Business Resources and Community Development at The Partnership. “This event will give businesses and government agencies a chance to connect and learn about each other and how they can work together.”
