Celebrate The Holidays: Winter Market And Holiday Promenade Return With Festive Fun Starting Nov. 22

GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Nov. 13, 2024) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership invites everyone to join in the holiday spirit with the Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines and the Historic East Village Holiday Promenade, both starting Friday, Nov. 22. From unique local vendors to festive programming, these events are a chance for families, friends and community members to celebrate the season in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). 

"We are excited to bring the Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market and Holiday Promenade back for another season," said Amelia Klatt, Director of Events for The Partnership. "These events have become a cherished part of the holiday season in Downtown DSM, bringing together families, friends and neighbors to celebrate the spirit of the season. It's incredible to see how they not only highlight our local small businesses but also help foster a strong sense of community. We can’t wait to share the joy and festive fun with everyone!" 

The Downtown Winter Farmers’ Market will take place Friday, Nov. 22 – Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Iowa Events Center and feature more than 100 local vendors offering a wide selection of seasonal produce, holiday gifts and treats. Each day of The Market will include family-friendly activities, live entertainment and a spotlight on vendors from the Spark DSM Business Incubator program. The Winter Market will also introduce a new Holiday Porch Planter Make-and-Take event on Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24.  

The hours for The Winter Market will be as follows:  

  • Friday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.  

  • Saturday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.  

  • Sunday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Partnership and the Historic East Village Neighborhood Association are once again partnering to bring holiday cheer to Downtown DSM for the 23rd year of Holiday Promenade. This event will offer five festive Fridays of seasonal programming through Dec. 20. Each night features a unique theme, from the Tree Lighting Ceremony with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Friday, Nov. 22 to decorated window displays, a scavenger hunt and Santa’s Workshop. The final night, Dec. 20, will close with free admission to Brenton Skating Plaza, story time and a special holiday drone show.
