REO Speedwagon with Night Ranger

Friday, June 21 | Lauridsen Amphitheater at Water Works Park
As part of the Field Daze concert series, this all-ages show kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with opener Night Ranger. Then, get ready for favorite hits from REO’s soundtracks of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s like “Can’t Fight This Feeling,” “Keep on Loving You,” “Time for Me to Fly” and “Take It on the Run.”

Cajun Fest Boil & Brew

Saturday, June 22 | Cowles Commons
Come for the fun of Cajun Fest! Wear your best Cajun style like Mardi Gras colors or funky hats, enjoy live music by NOLA Jazz Band, the Comancheros, the Swampland Jewels and more, bring the kiddos to test their creative skills with activities at Camp Cajun, test your tastebuds during the spicy food contest, plus did we mention all you can eat crawfish!

Juneteenth Comedy

Saturday, June 22 | TeeHee’s Comedy Club
This special Juneteenth comedy celebration will include two shows where 100% of the ticket revenue will go toward the performers and show producers. At 7:30 p.m., headliner Lyssa Laird will be joined by Carmela Anderson, Clifton Antoine and producer Bernard Bell. Then at 9:30 p.m., headliner Mo Alexader will take the stage, as well as Darius Daye, De’Angilo Funches, Dante Powell and producer Day Peace. Plus, a food truck will be on-site, with drink specials flowing all night long!

The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body

Saturday, June 22 – Sunday, July 7 | Des Moines Stoner Theater
This piece brings reflection to Black women’s experiences ranging from mind, body and spirit, with a particular focus on middle-aged and older-aged Black women. The show also celebrates pioneering Black feminists and icons who have contributed to arts, culture, politics and academic, all culminating in a dance party and invitation for Black women to share their own wisdom and contributions.

Opening Thursday, June 27 | Polk County Heritage Gallery
Partake in the opening reception and awards for the gallery’s latest annual juried show, highlighting Iowa artists showcasing their works. The art show, juried by local artist Ben Millett, will be available at the Polk County Administrative Building's gallery through Thursday, Aug. 15.
