48-Hour Film Project: Best of Horror Screening
Friday, Oct. 28 | State Historical Museum of Iowa
Filmmakers from around Greater Des Moines (DSM) were given 48 hours to write, shoot, edit and submit a short film within the horror genre earlier this month. Around 20 teams competed and were judged by a panel of local industry professionals, and this is the final showcase of the best of the best films created from the project. You’ll be wowed by what these highly talented and creative filmmakers were able to accomplish in just 48 hours — right here in DSM.

The Ray Way Celebration
Friday, Oct. 28 | Robert D. Ray Asian Gardens
This event series celebrates Asian heritage and culture, recognizing the efforts of former Governor Robert D. Ray in welcoming Asian refugees to the state of Iowa. The culmination of the series is the Ray Way Celebration: a free event including food, festivities and a short program honoring friends and neighbors.

Makers, Bakers & Boos Holiday Market
Saturday, Oct. 29 | Peace Tree – Des Moines Branch
This spooktacular popup market will showcase local bakers and makers while attendees sip on a local craft beer from Peace Tree. Vendors will include Mimi’s Macs, Sift + Sprinkle, Domestic Bones, Blue Gate Farm, Catknot and Prairie Rose Desserts — to name just a few!

As October comes to an end, the Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines wraps up its final week of the regular Market season.
