Nyemaster Goode Clerks Get to Know Downtown DSM
As an active member of the Greater Des Moines Partnership and co-chair of the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s Downtown DSM Board, I am continuously looking for ways to introduce Downtown Des Moines (DSM), and the wider region, to summer law clerks at Nyemaster Goode. As Iowa’s largest law firm, our clients include small and large companies, as well as individuals, so it’s important to get to know the people and businesses within the community we represent. I also want our clerks to see how many opportunities there are here to become active with community organizations. When you are invested in your community, you are more likely to want to stay and continue to build and improve that community. Shopping local and attending local events is one way to do that — and that’s where one of Downtown DSM’s annual summer activities, Out to Lunch, comes in.
Out to Lunch
Recently, along with several new clerks, I attended the Out to Lunch series, a free event featuring food trucks and live music once a week at different locations throughout the month of July. This event series brings thousands of people downtown each summer, and is a welcome addition to the entertainment landscape for downtown workers. During our recent outing, we enjoyed food and drinks from Hawaiian Grill while listening to Sara Routh perform on High Street in Downtown DSM. It was a chance to get out of the office and into Downtown DSM during our lunch break, and we jumped at the chance to hear a local artist and spend time in the city.
Out to Lunch is just one opportunity to motivate team members to get to know Downtown DSM and create an engaging office culture. Nyemaster Goode uses team outings like this to create a healthy workplace environment for its employees. The Partnership offers other networking events and opportunities for both new and seasoned employees to enjoy downtown and the region, and I urge you to check them out. You can also find other ways to connect with business professionals and volunteer opportunities in DSM here.
With just one more Out to Lunch event this summer, don’t miss your chance to experience Downtown DSM with others from your team while listening to local musical talent and tasting food from local vendors. Chris Falcon will perform on 15th Street between Grand Avenue and Locust Street today from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Downtown Des Moines (DSM) is a growing, vibrant community that offers the energy, sophistication, housing and attractions of a burgeoning city with a brilliant future. It’s also easy to visit with plentiful and affordable street and ramp parking options.
