The Iowa Association for Financial Professionals, Iowa AFP, will be hosting their first-ever Spring Conference on Thursday, April 4 at The River Center in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). About the Iowa AFP Spring Conference
We have a fantastic lineup for the day, starting with one of our local leaders Rowena Crosbie speaking on Maximizing Your Ability to Influence. Attendees can take nuggets from her time to move some of the best practices from the day forward. We will then move to special guest Secretary Naig who will provide an in-depth update on the agricultural industry and highlight the financial impact the ag industry has throughout Iowa. Before we break for lunch, we will take a deep dive into data for our practitioners by having Paul Galloway, Strategic Treasurer, speak on Getting Your Treasury Data to Work for You. We all have, see and create data every day but we do not know what to do with it so this will be an informative session on taking steps to interpret and use what is in front of us for decision making.
Our lunchtime speaker with be Mr. Chris Crawford, Treasury Manager at Farmers Mutual Hail and our President. He will discuss who we are and where we are going. We want people to know that Iowa AFP is a place to network and learn as professionals.
As we move into the afternoon, we kick off with Ernie Humphrey, CEO of 360 Thought Leadership Consulting and Treasury Webinars, on What Matters in Your Banking Relationship. His vast knowledge will be beneficial to our participants as he has worked in the national association office and in a practitioner’s seat. Then we will move to Special Agent Dean Neubauer, FBI Cyber Task Force, discussing how to prevent cyber-attacks and what to do next. For our last speaker of the day, we will have a panel with Director Doug Jacobson, Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University, and Jim Hoflen, US Department of Homeland Security, discuss what they have seen in and around cyber security along with steps to take for prevention.
To end the day, we are inviting attendees to the Iowa Cubs game for a night of recapping the day and connecting with other professionals. Please visit our website for details and to register for the event.
