Holiday Promenade Special Deals: Friday, Dec. 2

The 2022 Holiday Promenade continues with Historic East Village businesses, including shops and restaurants, celebrating the season with special deals, a wreath walk, a DIY Ornaments You Keep workshop and carolers. The Wreath Walk will explore wreaths throughout the Historic East Village, and MaeShea Customs and Quilted Gardens will be selling wreaths, garlands and more.

Storyhouse Bookpub will host William Bortz, poet of The Grief We’re Given, who will be at his typewriter ready to type a poem to gift your bookish friends. Check out the Happy Home Coffee Roasters Mobile Coffee Bar Decaf Mocktail Pop-Up as well! Storyhouse Bookpub events will take place from 6 – 9 p.m.

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden will host Dome After Dark from 6 – 10 p.m. when the conservatory and Gardeners Show House will be lit up for families. Trellis Café will serve concessions, drinks and mocktails in the Garden commons and also make shared plates, drinks and mocktails available for purchase within the café. Visitors can also donate to the Warm Clothes Drive for Iowa Homeless Youth Shelter taking place now through Friday, Dec. 16. Donate any coats, scarves, mittens, hats, etc.

Food + Drink

• 503 Cocktail Lab + Tasting Room will feature holiday drink(s) and an appetizer during the Promenade.*
• Special holiday cocktails will be available at Franka Pizzeria from 3 – 9 p.m. Enjoy $2 off wine by the glass, menu cocktails and draft beer. $12 pizzas will be available from 3 – 6 p.m.
• At HoQ, try special holiday cocktails — changing each week!
• Peace Tree Brewing Company will offer their third holiday beer, “Caramel Almond Toffee Red Rambler.”*
• The New Northwestern will feature a holiday happy hour during the Promenade featuring half-off wines, half off Hot Toddies and a $7 “Miracle on 4th Street” martini.
• Every Friday is ‘Paella Night” at The Purveyor, rotating between the classic seafood presentation and a chicken chorizo. This Friday, find 10% off all charcuterie. *

Retail + Services

• Amour will host a hot cocoa station and is launching a new panty-of-the-month club. Get a surprise panty in your size delivered to you each month of 2023!
• Ephemera will have milk and cookies available while you shop. *
• Eden welcomes Bread by Chelsa B and Pie Bird Pies to the shop. Purchase donuts, pie and more!*
• Gateway Dance Theatre will host a bake sale and teach simple dances from around the world during the Promenade.
• At Indie House Design, home lighting and candles are 15% off. *

• Liz Lidgett Gallery and Design’s will close at their normal business hours, but lights will be kept on for attendees to enjoy during the Promenade. *
• Porch Light’s Emily will pop in with her amazing peace wreaths. *
• Find up to 50% off clothing and gear and 10% off non-sale items at Stoked.*
• Village IV and Wellness will host drawings for free infusions and shots. Specials for the Promenade include $10 B12 shots, $10 off any infusion and $25 for every $100 in gift cards.

Don't forget that Friday marks the start of Hide and Seek Ornaments You Keep, where you can find handmade ornaments by local artists hidden around downtown using clues from @downtownDSMUSA on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as well as under #downtownDSM and #DSMlocal. Finally, Drag King DSM will hold a show at Wooly's Friday at 9 p.m. (Doors open at 8 p.m.) Head over to see the largest all drag king show in the country. Purchase tickets ahead of time at $15 a piece or for $20 at the door. Find more info at dsmdragking.com.
