Holiday Promenade Special Deals: Friday, Dec. 16

The 2022 Holiday Promenade continues with Historic East Village businesses, including shops and restaurants, celebrating the season with special deals, a visit from Santa, carolers and a special fireworks display sponsored by MidAmerican Energy Company.  

Storyhouse Bookpub will welcome Dainty Knotts for an art pop-up event where attendees can create book stack paintings for their bookworm friends — they make the perfect holiday gift! While you shop for books, enjoy cider and wine, too. Storyhouse Bookpub events will take place from 5 – 9 p.m. 

Experience the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden in new light where the Conservatory and Gardeners Show House is illuminated in colorful lighting. Trellis Café will serve concessions, drinks, and mocktails in the Garden commons or shared plates and drinks. Visitors can also donate to the Warm Clothes Drive for Iowa Homeless Youth Shelter taking place through Friday, Dec. 16. Donate any coats, scarves, mittens, hats, etc. 

Food + Drink 

• 503 Cocktail Lab + Tasting Room will feature holiday drink(s), an appetizer during the Promenade and live music 
• Special holiday cocktails will be available at Franka Pizzeria from 3 – 9 p.m. Enjoy $2 off wine by the glass, menu cocktails and draft beer. $12 pizzas will be available from 3 – 6 p.m. 
• At HoQ, try special holiday cocktails — changing each week! 
• Peace Tree Brewing Company will have live music by Carl & The Hamiltones from 7 – 9 p.m. (No cover!) 
• The New Northwestern will feature a holiday happy hour during the Promenade featuring half-off wines, half off Hot Toddies and a $7 “Miracle on 4th Street” martini.  
• Every Friday is ‘Paella Night” at The Purveyor, rotating between the classic seafood presentation and a chicken chorizo. On the 16th, try an empanada, the croque monsieur or any item available from the past Promenade Friday events, as well as a baked Brie and seasonal fruit or chocolate dessert option for $8.   

Retail + Services 

• Ephemera will have milk and cookies available while you shop. 
• Gateway Dance Theatre will host dance/movement classes open to the public, including salsa, yoga, bhangra, Indian folk dance and world rhythms.  
• Stop in at KIN DSM for a tarot reading by Miss Monica or an aura portrait by Kindred Auras and 25% off all holiday items. 
• Receive a free gift from Kitchen Collage with any purchase. 
• Liz Lidgett Gallery and Design’s will close at their normal business hours, but lights will be kept on for attendees to enjoy during the Promenade. 
• Porch Light will serve hot cider and cookies. 
• Find up to 50% off clothing and gear and 10% off non-sale items at Stoked. 
• Village IV and Wellness will host drawings for free infusions and shots. Specials for the Promenade include $10 B12 shots, $10 off any infusion and $25 for every $100 in gift cards.
