Holiday Promenade Deals: Friday, Nov. 17, 2023

This year’s Holiday Promenade will feature all kinds of special offers and deals from Historic East Village businesses, including shops and restaurants, eager to celebrate the season! This week’s event will also feature programming that includes family-friendly activities and tree lighting at Brenton Skating Plaza. The skating plaza is where you can see Santa from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, and storytime with Mrs. Claus will take place at 6, 6:30 and 7 p.m. The trolley will run from 5 – 9 p.m., too, so you won’t want to miss out on this first week of festive fun!

Other activities exclusive to this week include a blood drive at the Lifeserve Blood Center’s Des Moines Donor Center at 431 E. Locust St. in Downtown Des Moines (DSM). Registered blood donors will receive a voucher for a free 2023 holiday long sleeve “Snow One Like Blood Donors” shirt. To participate, make an appointment to visit Lifeserve Blood Center Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. or over the weekend. The Center is taking appointments from 7 a.m. – Noon on Saturday, Nov. 18 and 8 a.m. – Noon on Sunday, Nov. 19.

Walnut Creek Church will also host a Christmas Wreath Making Workshop on Friday at either 6 p.m. or 7 p.m. The fee is $25 and includes all materials including the wreath, ribbon, holly and more. Complimentary hot cocoa and coffee will be served.

Food + Drink at the Holiday Promenade

• At HoQ, 303 E. Walnut St., try a different holiday drink special each week! This week is Winter Side Car for $8.
• Peace Tree Brewing Company, 317 E. Court Ave., will have their Mulled Red Rambler, an amber ale with mulling spices from Allspice, while supplies last, as well as Peace Tree Grilled Cheese available from 6 – 10:30 p.m.

Retail + Services Special Offers at the Holiday Promenade

• East Fifth Studio, 315 E. 5th St., will offer Portraits with Santa on a first-come, first-served basis from Sara Johansen Photography and Studio Preservation. The shop will also host a Santa Letter writing table and a holiday pop-up with Alisa of Sift + Sprinkle featuring holiday macarons, pop tarts, cake slices and homemade Bourbon-aged Madagascar vanilla for purchase.
• East Village Spa, 300 E. Locust St., Ste. 313, is offering a free gift with purchase while supplies last for a $50 Note we are open until 7:45 pm. Farmhouse Fresh purchase or a $75 Jane Iredale purchase. Limit one of each per shopper. Celebrate our 15th birthday with $15 mystery grab bags valued at $30-$65. We will also kick off our annual holiday gift card special with a free $15 service voucher with every $100 in gift cards purchased in the spa 11/17 through 12/23.
