Voix de Ville – A Modern Vaudeville Cabaret

Swanky Downtown DSM jazz club, Noce, is adding a show called “Voix de Ville” to the venue line-up. The new show is a modern cabaret produced by Max Wellman and features music from the 1920s to 2024, including renditions of songs by Beyonce and Lizzo and original arrangements. No two shows will be the same, with acts being switched up regularly to highlight an array of performers, including singers, actors, drag queens, dancers and musicians. Grab your tickets for an upcoming 7 p.m. Friday show — available now through Friday, Oct. 18, 2024!

Architecture on the Move Guided Walking Tour
Friday, Sept. 13, 2024 | Downtown Des Moines
Take a guided walking tour of Downtown DSM, hosted by the Iowa Architectural Foundation. This monthly tour provides the opportunity for locals and visitors to see and appreciate beautiful, famous and historical architectural treasures in the heart of Iowa’s capital. Four tour routes are offered, each guided by architects and historians and unscripted for a unique tour each month. Tours leave from the Iowa Center for Architecture in Capital Square and last approximately 90 minutes with around 14 city blocks of walking, so bring your comfy shoes! Check-in begins at 5 p.m. with the tours kicking off promptly at 5:30 p.m. For only $20 per person, support the Iowa Architectural Foundation public education program and see for yourself the rich architectural sights of Downtown DSM.

The Ozark Mountain Daredevils
Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024 | Hoyt Sherman Place
The Ozark Mountain Daredevils “When It Shines” The Final Tour is taking the stage at Hoyt Sherman Place this Sunday. Described as “a ragtag collection of hippies, bohemians and musicians of no fixed ambition,” the band’s sound is that of country-rock and electric bluegrass, pulling influence from a diverse array of music genres for a truly unique harmony. The Daredevils’ formal beginning was in 1971 in Springfield, Missouri. Two of the original band co-founders are still part of the group, maintaining their signature style and vibrant sound. This is a performance you’ll want to see!

The Des Moines Streetstyle Open
Thursday, Sept. 19 – Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024 | Various Downtown DSM Locations
Don’t miss the opportunity to attend the Des Moines Streetstyle Open, showcasing the best of skateboarding in the DSM region. Watch skaters compete in the multi-day open street contest with a multitude of contest types and terrains that make this a standout event for both participating skaters and spectators. Contests take place in various locations throughout Downtown DSM, including the world-class Lauridsen Skatepark. This year’s fourth annual Des Moines Streetstyle Open is sure to be the best yet and one you don’t want to miss with new locations, new obstacles, men’s and women’s contests, adaptive street, bowl jam and more!
