This week will be action-packed in Downtown Des Moines (DSM)! Cinch World’s Toughest Rodeo
Friday, Jan. 13 – Saturday, Jan. 14 | Wells Fargo Arena
The world’s toughest cowboys will compete on their road to being crowned ProRodeo’s World Champion. Rodeo fans will experience action-packed fun, exciting entertainment and fierce competition at this showdown on the dirt. Come early for added experiences including pony rides, a meet-and-greet with cowboys, hop inside the clown’s barrel and take a seat on a live bull in the bucking shoot.

Cabaret for City Voices
Sunday, Jan. 15 | Noce
City Voices is a local nonprofit whose goal is to provide voice instruction to underprivileged students throughout DSM. Come witness the nonprofit’s origin story, as told through the tale of the first student whose journey sparked the idea. Featuring local artists and starring Napoleon M. Douglas, this two-act Cabaret will cover a broad range of musical influence including R&B, Broadway and Verdi.

Cidermaker Chats
Tuesday, Jan. 17 | Ken’s – a not so secret speakeasy
Take a deep dive into the process of cidermaking, from apple to glass and everything in between. This month’s featured cidermaker is Greg Ruth from Wilson’s Orchard and Farm. Admission to this educational event is free; located within the Iowa Taproom.

6th Annual Club Talent Show
Wednesday, Jan. 18 | Scottish Rite Consistory
Join in this evening of fun with the Boys & Girls Club of Central Iowa! In addition to a talent show featuring the Club students, attendees can enjoy games, crafts, heavy hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine and specialty mocktails. All proceeds from this fundraiser will directly support Club children and teens in the DSM community.

Live at the Temple: Somi
Thursday, Jan. 19 | Temple Theater
Somi Kakoma is a vocalist, composer, writer and daughter of emigrants from Rwanda and Uganda, drawing her musical identity in the cultural bridge between American and African influences. Her signature musical sound includes notes of jazz, soul and more.
