Celebrate the Halloween Season at the Downtown Farmers’ Market
The spooky season festivities will continue this weekend at the Downtown Farmers’ Market Presented by UnityPoint Health — Des Moines! Invite all your loved ones, put on your favorite costume and head down to the Historic Court District for a spooky twist on the weekly Downtown Des Moines (DSM) event’s final Market of the regular season.
Collect Candy from Vendors
Select Market vendors from our great lineup will be passing out special treats to all of those participating in the informal costume party from 8 a.m. – Noon on Saturday, Oct. 29. Make sure that you include your treat collection pail in your Farmers’ Market essentials before you leave the house so that you and your kids can leave the event with a great assortment of sweets.
Snap a Photo with Costumed Characters
There will also be a fun collection of superheroes and princesses strolling around the Market streets to greet marketgoers throughout the event, so make sure that you stop your favorites and grab a fun photo as you complete your Market journey. These iconic characters will be available for a quick chat and a photo, so bring your camera to capture those fun moments.
Buy Fall Products
Don’t forget that this final Market will also be your last chance to purchase those essential fall produce items like sweet potatoes, butternut squash, beets, garlic, apples, pumpkins and fall-themed baked goods from our vendors. Need to bring something to an upcoming holiday party? Sugary fall treats like caramel apples, apple cider and apple pies will also be plentiful at this last event. If you are still on the hunt for some beautiful indoor foliage for your home there will also be a gorgeous collection of fall mums, unique gourds, flowers and plants still available for purchase. Make sure you grab your favorites for that holiday centerpiece! Local musicians will also still provide great music on along the Market path all morning long.
The Market team thanks all Des Moines residents and visitors for being a part of another successful Farmers’ Market season. We hope that you join us at the outdoor Winter Farmers’ Market this November and December. More than 100 vendors will take to the chilly streets of Downtown DSM on two Saturdays (Nov. 12 and Dec. 3) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Winter Market will be the perfect place to purchase seasonal local produce, meat, cheese, eggs, jam, jelly, salsa and many other value-added farm food items and local artwork. We’ll see you in the Historic District once again this winter to celebrate our local vendors and the winter season.
From May to October, experience local artists, live music and entertainment at the Downtown Farmers’ Market featuring nearly 300 family farmers, bakers, artists and crafters from around the state. It’s easy to visit with plentiful and affordable street and ramp parking options.
