Description

Did you know an Iowa town is named for the so-called "George Washington of Algeria?" Learn more about Elkader and its fascinating namesake from Kathy Garms and Matt Peterson, both from the Abdelkader Education Project, and John Kaiser, author of "Commander of the Faithful: The Life and Times of Emir Abd el-Kader." Their online presentation is part of the "Iowa History 101" series, which the State Historical Society of Iowa offers to commemorate Iowa's 175th year of statehood. The event is free and will be recorded, but registration is required. Learn more and register via Zoom. #Iowa175
