The State of YPC
As I thought about what I would write in my first official “How I YPC” blog post, I struggled a bit over what direction to take. Do I talk about all of the spectacular events that have occurred over this last quarter? Or do I build excitement about all of the upcoming events over the next few months? I say, why not do both!
Thinking Big, Making an Impact
At the beginning of the year, I challenged the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) Board to think big, think impact with every event or initiative they planned. I wanted members to walk away from every YPC activity having met someone new, learned something new, or experienced something new. So far, they have exceeded my expectations in every way! With the calendar filled with events such as New Member Socials, Morning Meet-Ups, Lunch and Learns, Civic Cafés, Social Happy Hours, along with several unique Volunteer and Diversity and Culture outings, it is hard not to find a way to get involved or give back. The impact we have made to the Greater Des Moines (DSM) community and beyond has been phenomenal!
Upcoming YPC Events
But it doesn’t stop there. We are only a little over a quarter of the way through the year! There are many more events and opportunities coming our way. If you haven’t already, get signed up for the YPC Skyzone outing on April 28, Golden Circle Games on June 13, and the Do More Village at 80/35 on July 6 and 7. I encourage all of you to get involved in a committee if you haven’t already, or try an event that you haven’t been to before. Continue to challenge us with new ideas and help us ensure that you have the best possible YPC experience.
With that in mind, come celebrate the first quarter of 2012 while we look forward to the next at our Quarterly Connectionsevent on Thursday, May 3 at 6 p.m. at the Des Moines Social Club. This event has been totally revamped from last year and will be much more interactive. You won’t want to miss it!
As usual, contact me anytime with questions, suggestions, etc. at president@ypcDSM.com. I hope you all have a great week and I look forward to seeing you at our next event!
