SOCIAL CHAIR

The position of Social Chair shall plan social events throughout the year to provide members opportunities to network with other Young Professionals around the Greater Des Moines area. The Social Chair shall collaborate with the Board to create opportunities for added value. It will be at the Chair's discretion whether to utilize a committee process for the planning and execution of events. The Chair will also collaborate with other YPC committees and outside entities. The Social Chair will collaborate with and support the board chairs to enrich social events with the other components of YPC's mission. 

This is a voting position.

What You'll Do 

  • Plan event opportunities for members and nonmembers to network and build relationships
  • Help plan the Signature YPC Kick-Off Party event 
  • Collaborate with any other Board members as needed

What It Takes

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • The ability to balance planning of multiple events
  • Time Commitment: It is what you make of it! As a Board Member, you're expected to attend YPC events as you're able, which can be 1-5 hours/week. For event planning, outreach, and communications, past chairs found it best to devote 15-30 minutes each day to stay on top of things plus additional time for deeper planning and execution. 

A Strong Candidate

  • Has experience with event planning/management
  • Has a creative vision on how to provide opportunities for members and nonmembers to connect
  • Has a strong knowledge of the mission and purpose of YPC
