YPC's mission is to promote an environment that attracts and retains young professionals in Greater Des Moines (DSM). Its efforts focus on connecting young professionals to each other and to the community through social, civic, charitable and professional development endeavors.

The Partnership

YPC is an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, an economic and community development organization that serves Greater Des Moines (DSM), Iowa. Together with 23 Affiliate Chambers of Commerce, more than 6,400 Regional Business Members and more than 400 Investors, The Partnership drives economic growth with one voice, one mission and as one region. Through innovation, strategic planning and global collaboration, The Partnership grows opportunity, helps create jobs and promotes Des Moines as the best place to build a business, a career and a future. History

In 2000, The Partnership convened with some like-minded young professionals to form the Young Professionals Connection. Today, YPC is a dynamic network of leaders shaping DSM into a fun place to live, work and play. YPC engages hundreds of members in YPC committees and events, Partnership activities and community involvement.

Members

Each year, YPC conducts a survey of its members and newsletter subscribers to help it learn more about how it can shape the organization to meet member needs. YPC's 2017 survey showed:

  • 94 percent of members are between the ages of 21 and 35
  • 92 percent of members feel YPC has helped them make connections, become involved throughout the community and develop professionally
