Seize the Speed | 5 Reasons You Don't Want to Miss this YPC Event
1. Get (almost) on the track with pit road access and the fan walk.
Think racing is just driving fast and turning left? Get up close and personal with the drivers, crews and fans on the pit road fan walk. Not only can you see the teamwork and engineering that goes into making a successful race car, but also catch the drivers taking photos and signing autographs with fans.
2. Watch Xfinity Series qualifying and practice, and receive 20 percent off a next-day race ticket.
The Xnfinity Series is the like the Iowa Cubs of NASCAR. Many of the drivers are the next big stars who will someday race in front of crowds of more than 100,000 fans. Take this chance to see them hone their craft right in our backyard as they battle for victory on one of the series’ quickest and tightest tracks.
3. Meet Jasper County Young Professionals.
One the seminal pillars of Young Professionals Connection (YPC) is the expansion of members’ professional networks. Seize the Speed is a unique opportunity to partner and engage with YPs outside of Greater Des Moines (DSM).
4. Meet West Des Moines driver and former ARCA series champion Mason Mitchell.
Mitchell is a 22-year-old driver from West Des Moines who earned three wins in his first four ARCA seasons, and he was the 2014 series champion. Mitchell will meet with attendees and answer questions about racing and his career in the sport. ARCA, or Automobile Racing Club of America, is not part of NASCAR, but is often used as a developmental system for the nation’s premier auto racing series. Current NASCAR Sprint Cup series drivers Ty Dillon, Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, and Justin Allgaier are all ARCA alums.
5. Network at the tailgate party, beverage tent and post-race concert.
What’s a race weekend without spending time with friends and meeting new people? Jasper and Des Moines YPs are invited to attend the tailgate party before the race and have reserved space in the Newton Club at the speedway during the practice and qualifying. Stick around after the race for a concert at the track with Snake Oil.
