Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband Service Coming to Des Moines in 2019

DES MOINES – Today, Verizon identified Des Moines as one of 20 U.S. cities that will receive Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband service in 2019. Earlier this year, Verizon committed to providing 5G Ultra Wideband service in more than 30 U.S. cities by the end of 2019. Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband network is currently live in Chicago and Minneapolis.

5G will positively impact lives across Des Moines – in places like schools, hospitals and local businesses. 5G has the potential to make really big waves in exciting and life-enhancing spaces such as artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, robotics, virtual reality, augmented reality, autonomous vehicles, wearables and the Internet of Things (IoT). 5G Ultra Wideband service uses new radio technology and device hardware to deliver advanced capabilities to consumers and businesses. When customers move outside Verizon’s 5G Ultra Wideband coverage area, 5G compatible devices automatically and seamlessly hand off the signal to Verizon’s 4G LTE network, the nation’s best and most reliable 4G LTE network.

We launched the first commercial broadband 5G service last October, Verizon 5G Home, and turned up our 5G Ultra Wideband network in Chicago and Minneapolis, providing the world’s first commercial 5G mobile service with a 5G-enabled smartphone.”

In addition to Des Moines, Verizon, today, also unveiled the names of 19 additional cities that will get 5G Ultra Wideband service in 2019. They are: Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Phoenix, Providence, Salt Lake City, San Diego and Washington DC.
