Partnership Introduces Work-based Learning Event Series: Equipping Businesses For Future Talent Needs
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Aug. 6, 2024) – The Greater Des Moines Partnership has announced it will host a four-part Work-Based Learning Workshop series that will focus on helping Partnership Investor and Member businesses and organizations attract and train high school students as future workforce members. This series will guide participants in creating effective work-based learning programs that benefit both the community and their workforce by fostering professional skills, career guidance and networking opportunities.
The 2024 event schedule:
- Thursday, Sept. 12 from 2 – 4 p.m.: The Case for Work-Based Learning and Career Pathways and How to Get Started | Register here
- Thursday, Oct. 3 from 3:15 – 4:15 p.m.: How to Attract Early Talent with Work-Based Learning Best Practices | This event will be a breakout session at The Partnership’s Regional Summit. Register and learn more here
- Thursday, Oct. 24 from 2 – 4 p.m.: Authentic Work-Based Learning Projects Training | Register here
- Thursday, Nov. 21 from 2 – 4 p.m.: Internships and Apprenticeships Training | Register here
The series will include:
- Understanding why businesses are increasingly investing in work-based learning.
- Gaining a clear understanding of work-based learning and career pathways.
- Networking opportunities with educators.
- Learning best practices from companies successfully implementing work-based learning successfully.
- Accessing a clearinghouse for work-based learning training.
- Differentiating between internship vs. apprenticeship training.
- Conducting work-based learning self-assessment and action planning.
