Des Moines’ Bank of America Building Renamed OpenLoop Tower
Des Moines, IA | September 15, 2023 - OpenLoop Health, a national leader in white-label telehealth support services, announced the renaming of their Downtown Des Moines headquarters at their ribbon cutting ceremony on September 14, 2023. The former Bank of America Building will now be called OpenLoop Tower.
The historic 14-story building located on the corner of 6th and Locust downtown was built in 1966 and is among one of the tallest buildings in the Des Moines metro. The current owner bought the 152,000-square-foot building in 2017 and in early 2020, OpenLoop moved into space on the 4th floor.
To meet the continued, month-over-month client and patient demand for virtual care, OpenLoop has been growing their local workforce of experts steadily. In early 2022, they began renovating the 13,000 square feet of 2nd floor space, which celebrated its grand opening on Thursday. The newly renovated 2nd floor features an open floor plan with five additional meeting rooms and eight soundproof booths equipped with high-quality tech. These state-of-the-art booths allow employees to conduct private, professional video calls with clients, clinicians or patients.
With their continued growth, OpenLoop, which launched in early 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now the building’s largest tenant. To continue making space for their growing Des Moines-based team, OpenLoop has plans to break ground on the 3rd floor of the building later this year.
“We are incredibly grateful for the amazing growth OpenLoop has seen over the past three years. The renaming of our headquarter building further emphasizes our deep investment in our people, our innovative support offerings and the local community we are proud to call home. I cannot wait to see what the next three years hold for us here,” said Jon Lensing, CEO and Co-Founder of OpenLoop.
OpenLoop Tower, located in the heart of downtown Des Moines, is only minutes away from the city’s best restaurants and coffee shops. Being at the center of the action and events, it’s easy for OpenLoop employees to engage with and enjoy all the area has to offer. The tower also has year-round skywalk access, allowing individuals to take a walk or grab a bite without ever leaving central heating and cooling.
“We are excited to see this project come to life and commend the OpenLoop team on their commitment to Downtown Des Moines and the Greater Des Moines region,” said Renae Mauk, Vice President of Downtown Development at the Greater Des Moines Partnership. “This project will help the DSM USA region attract and retain talented people, add foot traffic, activity and vibrancy to Downtown, and add to the significant economic development momentum happening in the region.”
OpenLoop has made a commitment to the community to more than quadruple their local headcount over the next three years. With that increase in Des Moines talent and no slowing down in sight, OpenLoop and the tower’s other tenants will fill the once sparsely occupied building, breathing new life into the area.
“Iowa has nurtured an entrepreneur ecosystem that is growing and thriving, and success stories like OpenLoop’s will continue to inspire others to start their innovation journey here,” said Debi Durham, Director of the Iowa Economic Development Authority and Iowa Finance Authority. “OpenLoop’s investment in their people and community is an investment in the future of Iowa.”
The company looks forward to celebrating continued growth in the area in the years to come.
