You’re Invited to DMU’s Grand Celebration
A new Des Moines University (DMU) Medicine and Health Sciences campus is primed to become a premier destination for the health care professionals of tomorrow. The campus opens on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 8025 Grand Ave. in West Des Moines, and all community members are invited to experience the facility firsthand. Fans of medical TV shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “House” will be able to see innovation that parallels these TV dramas and hear from DMU medical students about what it’s like to attend DMU.
Grand Celebration Schedule of Events
The schedule of events for the celebration and open house will include the following:

11:30 a.m. — Ribbon Cutting

Noon — Pioneers of Osteopathic Medicine Installation Ceremony

Noon – 3 p.m. — Campus Open House, Tours and Other Activities

1 – 1:45 p.m. — Class: From 3200 to 8025 – DMU’s Journey Out West

This 1 p.m. class will feature a panel of experts highlighting the university’s evolution, the Purple & Proud Campaign and the West Des Moines campus development.

2 – 2:45 p.m. — Class: Life of a Medical Student at Des Moines University

The 2 p.m. class will feature student medical school experiences and a live Q+A session.
The Grand Celebration is an opportunity for the community to see DMU medical learning spaces like the Simulation Laboratory, the Rakowski Surgical Skills Lab and clinical labs. The event will also include interactive demonstrations.
