Supporting Growth, Talent Expansion and Economic Vibrance in DSM USA

Holmes Murphy Expansion

February 19, 2025

Exciting things are happening at Holmes Murphy! Our Waukee office is experiencing substantial growth at a rate we can no longer sustain in our current building. In addition to celebrating overall enterprise growth, we’re celebrating that we’re able to continually recruit and retain the best employees in the business to be able to serve and care for our clients. This also means we’ve had to strategically and creatively think about the next step for our future.

As we explored all available options, we ultimately made the decision to secure space in the newly refurbished Arcadia building, located at 7000 Vista Drive in West Des Moines. Just a short distance from our existing headquarters, this new location will support our continued expansion while maintaining the strong, vibrant culture that makes Holmes Murphy unique.

This expansion is not just about adding square footage — it’s about strategically positioning ourselves for long-term success, caring for our people and supporting our clients and community stakeholders. The move will enable us to accommodate a growing workforce, enhance our collaborative work environment and contribute to the economic vibrancy of not just West Des Moines and Waukee, but all of Greater Des Moines (DSM). By expanding into this new space, we are reinforcing our commitment to innovation, employee wellbeing, business excellence and talent attraction.

Holmes Murphy Break Room

Designed for a Culture of Growth, Collaboration and Innovation

The modern and dynamic Arcadia building spans 270,000 square feet, of which we will occupy approximately 75,000 square feet. We will be joining ITA Group as tenants, with an anticipated move-in date of Fall 2025.

We’re excited, as the location offers excellent access for our employees and visibility along Jordan Creek Parkway, making it an excellent choice for both convenience and functionality.

With this expansion, we are prioritizing:

  • Employee-Centric Spaces: The new location will feature dedicated workspaces for all employees, ensuring a comfortable and efficient environment.
  • Training and Development: Additional meeting and training rooms will enhance professional growth opportunities for our employees.
  • Future-Proofing Our Business: This expansion allows us to continue scaling operations while ensuring our workforce has the tools and space needed to thrive.

Additionally, one of the things that makes Holmes Murphy so unique is the environments we are proud to provide our employees. We like to ensure all our offices have informal collaboration areas that are vibrant in color, set apart and spaces where we encourage our employees to connect, problem solve, work on projects, have quick-standup meetings, spark creativity, innovate or simply get a change of scenery that doesn’t feel so formal in nature and is conducive to collaborating in a more stress-free environment. We know this is vital to the employee experience we provide. Because we were at maximum capacity in our Waukee office, these spaces were dwindling. So, this expansion ensures our employees in both locations can once again have the right spacious environments to connect, create and excel.

Speaking of Waukee, our location at Grand Prairie Parkway will remain our headquarters and our client-facing hub, as it was originally designed with this in mind.

Investing in the Future and Our Communities

As one of the largest independent insurance brokerages in the nation, we remain dedicated to recruiting and retaining top talent while delivering outstanding service to our clients. You’ve heard the old movie quote “If you build it, they will come.” We truly believe this. We see this happening every day in Des Moines and our regional communities. It’s the same mindset we have. If we offer the best jobs in the best communities, people will come, and the economy will flourish. It’s why we’re so invested in the future of not just Holmes Murphy, but also our communities. We are confident our second Central Iowa-based innovative and creative office space will create a first-class experience for our employees, clients and business partners — further strengthening our presence in Iowa and reinforcing our long-term commitment to the area and its economic success.

A Reason to Celebrate

Each year, we pick a theme to rally around and inspire our team. Our theme for 2025 is Celebrate, and what better way to kick off the year than by celebrating our continued growth, talent expansion, the economic vibrance in DSM and the journey we’re on? This expansion marks an exciting new chapter in our journey, and we look forward to sharing it with our employees, clients and communities.

As we look ahead to Fall 2025, we are eager to begin this new era of growth and innovation. We invite our team, clients and partners to join us in celebrating this milestone and to be part of the exciting future we are building together as we continue to make DSM one of the best places in the nation to live and work!
