The Greater Des Moines Partnership continues to provide resources and business education through the Startup Stories DSM podcast series. Over the next week, we’ll be sharing the top five downloaded podcasts, starting with number five.
#5 — Tej Dhawan, Principal
Tej Dhawan is chief data officer at Principal Financial Group, as well as a prominent figure within the Greater Des Moines (DSM) startup scene. When he sat down in July 2019 to speak with The Partnership’s Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives, Mike Colwell, Tej offered insight on DSM leaders and feeders as an integral part of growing the community’s startup scene, the challenges and opportunities in today’s startup world, as well as what makes a successful entrepreneur. #4 — Amos Petersen, FarrPro
In the pilot episode of Startup Stories, Amos Peterson of Iowa-based startup FarrPro shared his company’s innovations within the hog industry, working to eliminate premature deaths of piglets through their flagship product, Haven. Haven’s ability to reduce pre-wean mortality and energy use is scientifically proven, leading FarrPro to earn a National Hog Farmer New Product Tour Producers’ Choice Award in 2019. As executive director of entrepreneurial initiatives of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, Mike Colwell leads works with startups to build their business model, financial model, marketing strategies and capitalization plan. He is also co-manager of Plains Angels, a group of Iowa-based Midwest angel investors. Mike spends his days coaching, mentoring, consulting and asking tough questions to help entrepreneurs reach their full potential.
