SBIR/STTR Grants - A Great Source and Great Support

December 21, 2010

I have the pleasure of working with Kris Johansen at Iowa State University. Her role is to assist those seeking The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants. Grants can range in value from under $100K to over $500K in certain circumstances. Kris has been very successful in helping her clients succeed in being awarded these grants. It is a fairly complex process and it takes some time to get through but it is more than worth it. One of my clients has been able to bring in over $600K in grant money for his project.

The Three Phases of SBIR/STTR Grants

A while back Kris wrote a chapter for our book, How Business Gets Done: Words of Wisdom by Central Iowa Experts. In this chapter Kris outlines the SBIR and STTR programs, covering the three phases of these grants along with some excellent advice for those applying. It is well worth the read. Our book can be found on Amazon as a kindle book and on Lulu in print.

If you are developing technology for market, you owe it to yourself to talk to Kris to see if there is a potential for SBIR/STTR funding.
