Safely Celebrate the Fourth of July with Social Distancing Activities
As concern about the COVID-19 pandemic continues, you might be wondering the best ways to celebrate the Fourth of July in 2020. This year, you can enjoy the fun of twirling sparklers with the fam, but we’ve got some a few more ideas for you to ring in Independence Day.
See Fireworks
While many of the annual celebrations during this time have been canceled, there are still fireworks shows that will take place in some of Greater Des Moines’ (DSM’s) surrounding cities. Both Adventureland (July 3-4) and Prairie Meadows (July 3) will offer outdoor shows. Prairie Meadows suggests watching from your own car while listening to music from 100.3 The Bus for a synchronized show. Tickets will be available to see the show trackside, but this will be limited and masks are required. Other fireworks displays will take place in the following cities on Saturday, July 4:
Ankeny will hold their fireworks display Saturday, July 11 at 9 p.m. Clive will hold a fireworks celebration on Friday, July 17. The City of Pleasant Hill will not hold a fireworks show, but will instead "Celebrate in Place" with an aerial flyover beginning at 10 a.m., as well as a live stream of singalongs and special guests for celebrations at home.
