Quarterly Connection
Interactivity. Yes, I just made up a word, but it’s the best way to describe YPC’s first Quarterly Connection, or #YPCQ1 for you Twitter followers. (If you didn’t notice the giant screen at the front of the room at the Kirkwood, we were blowing up the hashtag!)
Each quarter, the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) celebrates and highlights the accomplishments since our last quarterly event. The evening kicked off with socializing and networking before President Mike Banasiak introduced the board and went over some of the year’s highlights. Membership Chair Laura Michel explained our new interactive component of the event, where we rotated around the room in groups to learn about each committee’s accomplishments from the first quarter — and, we got to participate in fun games. Turns out, I’ve got a good memory of marketing slogans.
And, the charitable/diversity bingo was a blast.
It was a fun and unique way to interact and get to know other YPC members, learn about the committees and upcoming events.
May Events
We also kicked off two big events for the month of May. The first was YPC’s May membership month. Encourage your friends to join YPC — the top three referrals will win awesome prizes! Make sure the new member enters your name (the referrer) when signing up online to be eligible. The second big event going on this month is the YPC T-shirt Design Contest.
We had a lot to celebrate from our first quarter :
- Record-breaking turnout for YPC’s annual kickoff in January (450!)
- Created a YPC mentor program for YPs and students
- Featured a nonprofit each month at the Happy Hour and through a service event
- Launched the YPC Ambassadors Program
- Started a new “How I YPC” blog!
And so much more! We’ve done a lot already, and it’s only May. I’m excited for what’s ahead. How did you YPC this quarter? What YPC activities are you looking forward to most this summer?
