Join the 30th Annual Neighborhood Tradition of Beaverdale Fall Festival

Beaverdale Fall Festival

September 13, 2024

Get ready for a neighborhood tradition that’s been partying strong for more than 30 years on Friday, Sept. 20 and Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024! Join the 30th annual Beaverdale Fall Fest at the intersection of Beaver and Urbandale Avenues in the heart of downtown Beaverdale and experience another fantastic year of the Beaverdale Fall Festival and see why Beaverdale is one of the coolest old neighborhoods in Des Moines!

As always, admission is free! There will be plenty of food options to serve all preferences and plenty of activities for all age brackets, so you won’t want to miss it.

There will be, count ‘em, FOUR STAGES of live music this year that will have acts going on both nights, and a water bottle fill-up station will make sure you stay hydrated between rounds of drinks, which are always available at the beer tent and all our local restaurants and bars. The vendor market will start on Friday at 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday, so make sure you go say hi to all our talented neighbors!

Car Night: Bring your rockin’ cars and your friends starting at 6 p.m. for an event with a great turnout and great vibes! For full participation guidelines for cars please see here.

Trivia: At 6:30 p.m., join in for trivia at the parking lot at Medicap Pharmacy, hosted by The Rook Room. Register a team here.

Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024

Dog Parade: Before the main parade, a small parade for our favorite tail waggers starts promptly at 9 a.m. from Beaverdale Books. The route goes North on Beaver Avenue to Adams Avenue, then loops back to the intersection of Beaver and Urbandale Avenues. The theme this year is “fall-inspired” with three judged categories: best overall, best dog and owner duo and people’s choice. Winners will be chosen by the following judges: Alexis Stech of Canine Clean, Dr. Deaglan Riordan of Beaverdale Veterinary Clinic/Riordan Pet Hospital and a staff member from Paws & Pints. Make sure you check out the cute doggie bandanas featuring our paw-some sponsor, Snookies Malt Shop! Register your pup here.

Parade

Parade: The parade, sponsored by Premier Chevy Dealers, will kick off at 10 a.m. It’s the same route from last year, which means it will start at Beaver Avenue and Amick Avenue, running South from Beaver Avenue to Allison Avenue. Make sure you wave at this year’s grand marshal, Francis Boggus, a long-time Beaverdale native passionate about service and currently a part of the fundraising efforts for the Beaverdale Park improvements. Don’t forget your blankets and bags for collecting parade goodies!

Cornhole Tournament: Play bags and rock out to some live music at the same time! The games will be held on Beaver Avenue just North of the intersection at Urbandale Avenue. While the start time is 2 p.m., teams should get there by 1:30 p.m. to check-in. Each participant will receive a koozie and $5 in Beaver Bucks (which can be used at the Festival’s beer tent, merchandise tent or food vendors). The winners will not only get bragging rights for the year, but a dam fantastic trophy! Additionally, 50% of registration fees will be awarded as cash prizes to the top three teams: 60% for 1st place, 30% for 2nd place and 10% for 3rd place. Register your team here.

Please note that the Festival is street parking only and any open parking lots are for business owners and their staff, so please be kind to your new neighborhood friends when parking along the street and bring your comfy dancing shoes to make sure you’re up for all the fun!
