Why should someone join your Chamber?    

Grimes Chamber & Economic Development (GCED) is an organization that has been in existence and evolving for over 20 years. Like the community it serves, the organization continues to grow and improve. Members have indicated that they value the organization for the business relationships they have been able to build and the long-lasting connections that have been made.

What is your Chamber’s biggest accomplishment in the past 12 months?  

Grimes Chamber & Economic Development offers a variety of services to its Members including traditional Chamber activities, economic development initiatives and tourism promotion. During the past year, the organization took on its very first Total Resource Campaign which was a very large undertaking. This campaign allowed for the organization to plan out events and sponsorship opportunities a year in advance allowing for the businesses marketing dollars to go further and recognition of Chamber Member businesses to increase.

Any initiative or project that you are looking forward to in 2018?  

Grimes is growing and we’re enjoying watching this growth happen! We are looking forward to working with the local businesses and local government to recommend improvements to our sign ordinance. While also being an economic development organization we are also working with the City on how to best use economic development incentives to accomplish the goals of the community.

What upcoming events should people watch for?    

Grimes Chamber & Economic Development, with the help of many generous sponsors and volunteers, organizes an annual celebration of community in Grimes. The event is called Governors Days in celebration of the community’s namesake, the third Governor of Iowa, James W. Grimes. Complete with concerts, parades, carnivals, car shows and much more, Governors Days is one of Greater Des Moines’ (DSM’s) premier summer events.
