For over 20 years, Grimes Chamber & Economic Development, in partnership with the Johnston Economic Development Corporation, has hosted annual economic development tours to keep area developers, brokers, landowners, elected officials and others informed about growth and opportunities. As Grimes and Johnston have expanded, each community now hosts its own tour to showcase their unique developments.

About the 2024 Guided Bus Tour

This year, Grimes Chamber & Economic Development’s “Explore Grimes: A Guided Bus Tour of Growth and Opportunity” will take place on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. This event is a prime opportunity for business members, developers, realtors and community leaders to gain insight into Grimes’ development, a key player in the thriving Greater Des Moines (DSM) region. Led by Brian Buethe, President & CEO of Grimes Chamber & Economic Development, and Alex Pfaltzgraff, Assistant City Administrator for the City of Grimes, attendees will explore current projects, future plans and growth prospects in one of Iowa’s most rapidly developing communities.

This year’s tour includes a special behind-the-scenes preview of the new Iowa Ortho Surgery Center, slated to open later in 2024. Attendees will enjoy an exclusive look at this state-of-the-art facility before it becomes operational.

Following the tour, participants are invited to network over drinks and appetizers with fellow business professionals. This event not only provides a platform for valuable connections but also offers a firsthand understanding of why Grimes continues to contribute to DSM’s dynamic growth.
