Episode 19: Stop Building and Start Selling
Levi Rosol, founder of We Write Code and several startups in Des Moines, recently spoke with Greater Des Moines Partnership Executive Director of Entrepreneurial Initiatives, Mike Colwell, to share his startup story.
Startup Challenges and Opportunities
Levi Rosol and his oldest son were driving 30-45 minutes to and from multiple sport games and would arrive just as they were being cancelled. That is where they idea of ScoreYard started. Levi wanted to create a tool to help manage student leagues and provide communications to parents.
During the creation of ScoreYard, Levi ran into several challenges. He learned that developers should not build a business on their own and that he was not first to market. That’s when Levi decided to move forward on a new project, Goodsmiths, an online marketplace for handmade goods.
After this Goodsmiths, Levi worked on several projects and eventually landed at Gravitate where he launched We Write Code, a small business that helps startups build digital products.
Through all his startup opportunities, Levi discusses his adventures including obstacles and advice.
