Dotdash Meredith Good Impressions
As the nation’s largest digital and print publisher, Dotdash Meredith has immense resources that can be leveraged to empower minority and LGBTQIA-owned small businesses and amplify diverse voices. That’s exactly what we are doing with our Good Impressions pro bono media and marketing consultation program. We hope Greater Des Moines (DSM) small businesses will apply for a chance to win one of five consultation packages valued at $250k each. The deadline is Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024.
The mission of Good Impressions is to help bridge the wealth and social gap for minority-owned small businesses. It uses our marketing and advertising expertise — plus our community of 190 million consumers — to help promote awareness and boost the sales of qualifying enterprises across the categories of Beauty/Style, Consumer Packaged Goods, Finance, Food, Health, Home, Lifestyle and Tech.
This program was launched in 2021. Five companies (The Safety Pouch, Madhu Chocolate, Young King Hair Care, Modi Toys and Shea Yeleen) won awards that year. Click here to learn more about — and support — these businesses. In 2024 the program has been enhanced with more brands, a bigger rewards package and a larger cross-company implementation team.
Dotdash Meredith is committed to anti-racism, building diverse teams and producing inclusive content. Each of our brands has made a public Diversity & Inclusion Pledge. Our Anti-Bias Review Board is a cornerstone of our program. Its members are educators, advocates, public health specialists, journalists, researchers, financial experts and other professionals, each with a background in supporting diversity, inclusion, and racial justice initiatives. They use their research, expertise and judgment to advise our brands on language, images, themes and tone. Separately, our commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) was recognized by The Greater Des Moines Partnership with its Inclusion Award in 2020.
The Partnership has done an outstanding job prioritizing DEI and nurturing small businesses in our region. This program offers another opportunity for selected beneficiaries to grow and thrive. It would be amazing to see DSM represented at least in the applications, and hopefully the list of 2024 recipients.
The Greater Des Moines Partnership celebrates the Greater Des Moines (DSM) entrepreneur community and helps small businesses succeed with one-of-a-kind resources and opportunities for networking. Find out how other entrepreneurs have found success by reading their stories and attending local small business events in the region.
