Des Moines Area Community College’s (DMACC’s) Evelyn K. Davis Center for Working Families is keeping busy creating opportunities through employment support programming and events. Here are the latest offerings to help connect and improve individuals’ employability and assist in connecting people with positions at Greater Des Moines (DSM) businesses and organizations.

  • Delivery Driver: $17 per hour - Delivering HVAC material and equipment to sites and shops, loading and unloading trucks, operating a Box Truck.
  • Property Maintenance Technician: $20 per hour - Working on multifamily housing units for general maintenance, using hand and power tools to repair appliances, electrical, AC units, etc.         
  • Class B CDL Driver: $22 per hour - Traveling state-to-state to deliver equipment to customers, overnight stays included.

The Ankeny Klothing Exchange (TAKE) offers gently used clothing, shoes, linens and small household goods to people in need. They are located at 718 NE Grant St., Ste. 102 in Ankeny. Shopping hours are Monday through Friday and the second Saturday of the month from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.

Home Inc. is offering a free class for tenants to learn about their basic rights and responsibilities as a renter in Iowa on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Home, Inc. (1618 6th Ave. in Des Moines)

DART will make several changes on July 1, 2024. We apologize for any impact these changes have on your ability to use our service.

No Wi-Fi on Buses: Wi-Fi will no longer be available on any DART bus. You can still use free Wi-Fi at DART Central Station.

• If you use the MyDART app or other tools to plan your trip, we encourage you to download that information before leaving DART Central Station or another starting location with Wi-Fi. Printed schedules are also available in the lobby at DART Central Station. 
• Reduced Customer Service Hours: DART Customer Service will follow this new schedule beginning on Monday, July 1:
  • Monday – Saturday: 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: Closed 

• You can contact Customer Service during open hours by:
  • Visiting the window at DART Central Station, 620 Cherry St., Des Moines
  • Calling: (515) 283-8100
