Hyper Local Hype: The Rise of the Nano Influencer
Whitney Warne, co-founder of Brand Launch, explains how she built her business, Ivory House Photography so quickly at the 2019 Small Business Success Summit.
Community
Without a group of advocates behind you, you will not be able to build a successful business. Do not think you have to do everything by yourself. If you don’t have a support team promoting your name or brand, your going to grow much slower. Build your natural network through a specific process of growing your brand.
Nano Influencers
Your community members are your nano influencers. These people do not have big followings. The biggest influencers for people are their children, their spouses, their friends. Influencers are everywhere! Each person who encounters your brand has a voice for it.
Who Are Nano Influencers?
Nano influencers are:
- They don’t make their money on social media.
- People who have as few as 1k followers.
- They are good at creating content and putting their story into the world.
- Known by their followers.
Brand Awareness
Whitney discusses how it’s important to show up for others without an agenda and reach out through local community efforts. Whitney does this through her weekly series Wednesdays with Whitney where she interviews people doing positive things in Greater Des Moines (DSM). She also became involved with Dress for Success, which led to more public speaking opportunities.
