Food Assistance Programs at The Market

The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health is committed to making fresh, locally grown food accessible to everyone. The Market proudly participates in several food assistance programs that help individuals and families shop for nutritious, high-quality food while supporting local farmers and producers.

SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks

The Market accepts SNAP EBT cards and participates in the Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB) program — a nutrition incentive initiative that helps your food dollars go further.

Swipe your SNAP/EBT card at The Market’s Information Booth (located at Third Street and Court Avenue) for the amount you’d like to spend. You’ll receive that amount in Market tokens to use with eligible vendors.

In 2025, you will receive up to a $15 match in Double Up Food Bucks — FREE! These bucks can be used at The Market as well as other participating farmers' markets and select grocery stores

If you don’t spend all your tokens in one visit, you can either save them to use at a future Market date during the season or have any unused SNAP/EBT Market tokens returned to your card on the same day.

Please note: Vendors cannot give change for Snap/EBT Market currency.

Produce RX Program

The Market also accepts Produce Rx vouchers from select local healthcare providers. These vouchers are part of a program designed to improve health outcomes by helping patients purchase fresher, nutrient-rich foods. If you’re enrolled in Produce Rx, simply bring your vouchers to approved vendors at The Market to use them toward fresh produce purchases.

FMNP and WIC Vouchers

Many Market vendors also accept Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and WIC Farmers' Market Nutrition Program vouchers. These programs provide low-income women, infants, children and seniors with access to fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers’ markets.

Vendors cannot provide change for any food assistance currency, including SNAP/EBT Market tokens or other program-specific vouchers. All food assistance currency is non-transferable and must be used as issued.
