Buy Nice, Not Twice at the Fontenelle Supply Co. Booth
Before Fontenelle Supply Co. was a leather goods shop at 524 East Grand Ave. in the Historic East Village, it was just three college friends making leather goods for themselves, friends and family and selling through an Etsy shop to other supporters of their hobby. Eventually, that hobby became a successful storefront that has expanded to more than just leather goods during its six years in business. In 2022, Fontenelle Supply Co. made its first appearance at the Downtown Farmers’ Market. Co-owner Adam Tweedy loves attending The Market where he shares their founding story, what they’re about and the philosophy of “buying nice, not twice.”
Fontenelle Supply Co. at the Downtown Farmers’ Market
The Market has exceeded Tweedy’s expectations, and he wishes Fontenelle would have become involved in the event sooner. Of the people visiting their booth on Saturday mornings, half have never heard of the business, giving him the opportunity to establish brand awareness and gain repeat customers. He enjoys the atmosphere at The Market, especially following the pandemic and being unable to attend trade shows.
At The Market, Tweedy showcases everything they do. This includes the leather work and hat and garment screen printing and labeling. Design and screen printing is done in-house and brought to The Market. Fontenelle also started offering poured candles recently, made with 100% soy wax and Phthalate-free essential oils. A new waxed canvas line has been well received at The Market as well. Tweedy suggests doing as many Market dates as you can. A Fontenelle Supply Co. booth is at The Market every weekend. Tweedy suggests those interested in becoming a vendor at The Market try to be consistent and flexible with their booth setup.
To support Fontenelle outside of The Market, visit the brick-and-mortar store in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) or visit fontenellesupplyco.com to find items you see at The Market.
