About Simon’s Plant Collaborative
Simon’s Plant Collaborative is run by Bucumi and Mariselina Simon. The Simon family lived in Burundi and then Tanzania before coming to Greater Des Moines (DSM) as refugees. With help from the Lutheran Services of Iowa Global Greens program, they learned about vegetable farming in Iowa. You can buy okra, carrots, beets, cucumbers, onions, carrots turnips and more from their booth. Want to try something unique? Grab cranberry beans before they sell out. Simon’s son, Pacifique, suggests preparing them with onions, garlic and potatoes. Next time you’re at the Market make sure you Say Hello to Simon’s Plant Collaborative, Saturdays from 7 a.m. to Noon!
