Ice Sculptor, Balloon Artist Add to Festivities of the Nov. 12 Winter Farmers’ Market
With a different slate of vendors — there will be nearly 90 on-site! — a full schedule of entertainment, special deals and extra programming, the Winter Farmers’ Market in Downtown Des Moines (DSM) is where holiday shopping kicks off. On Saturday, Nov. 12, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., Historic Court District will welcome floral and plant vendors, specialty food vendors and more selling everything from clothing and pastries to wine, soaps and jewelry. Find your Thanksgiving sides thanks to Grade A Gardens or gift boxes featuring honey products courtesy of the 96 hives at Peverill’s Apiary.
Programming at The Market
The Winter Market is an opportunity to hear from local performers, including Sharane Calister, of season 14 of NBC’s “The Voice” fame, and Andrew Hoyt, original singer/songwriter of “Good Morning Des Moines.” Along with these special performances, the Winter Market will include the following holiday programming:
-
On-site ice sculpture carving by Sculptor Bill Gordish from 9 – 10 a.m.
- Balloon animals created by Balloon Artist Professor Von Air near The Market information booth, just east of 4th Street
- Ornament-making station for kids inside a heating tent on Court Avenue next to The Market information booth (The heating tent is a chance to warm up in between shopping stops!)
Make sure you stop by the Market Information Center for more information about Blank Children’s Hospital’s Festival of Trees & Lights too!
Look for the Market Extra, MetroNet, tent at southwest corner of 3rd and Court.
We hope to see you in Historic Court District this Saturday for food, fun and holiday festivities!
