Downtown Farmers' Market Virtual Market Meet-Up: Opening Weekend in Review
The first-ever Downtown Farmers’ Market Virtual Market Meet-Up took place Saturday, May 2. Following the Opening Bell, Downtown Farmers’ Market Director Kelly Foss interviewed Market vendors and introduced entertainment acts via Zoom and previously recorded videos, as well as live in the studio.
Vendor Spotlights
For the kick-off event, Kelly started off with interviews with Sweet Treat without Wheat’s Sarah Vorm and vendor videos from Busy Bee Garden Center, Saltlickers, American Pride Roasters, Colby Creates and Mr. Magic.
During the second half of the show, the following vendors shared videos: Dirt Road Candle Co., BRAISED Bone Broth, UnityPoint Health Des Moines, Blue Gate Farm, RS Welding, Hanna Valley Protein, Three Smooth Stones and Frisian Farms.
Jessie Myers, with Cedar Ridge Winery & Distillery, joined Kelly live in the studio to mix up “Bagger Mules” and touch on Cedar Ridge’s $1 donations to the Iowa Trails for Bike to Work month. Every bottle sold of Bagger Vodka will result in a donation through the month of May.
Entertainment
Entertainment for the Virtual Market Meet-Up was provided by Opus Taylor Band, an Iowa rock and blues band. Opus Taylor Band is available for private parties, receptions, fundraisers and more.
