Downtown Farmers' Market Welcomes 16 New Vendors as National Farmers' Market Week Begins
GREATER DES MOINES, IA (Aug. 3, 2022) – The Downtown Farmers’ Market presented by UnityPoint Health – Des Moines will introduce 16 new local vendors to the Downtown Farmers’ Market lineup beginning this Saturday in conjunction with National Farmers’ Market Week that runs from Aug. 7 – 13.
The new Market vendors were selected by a mid-season vendor jury. This is the first time The Market team has conducted a mid-season jury. Market applications were reopened in late June to fill a limited number of available spots in an effort to add more diverse new vendors for Market-goers to enjoy and support. The Market’s vendor jury consists of vendor committee members, sponsor representatives, Market partners and a select group of community members involved in The Market.
Applications were accepted from those who have participated in or been approved for The Market’s Minority-Owned Small Business Incubator Program, prepared food vendors, artisan food vendors and farmers. All selected vendors will begin selling their products at The Market in August.
The jury has selected the following vendors for Market inclusion:
Au Natural Healing & Wellness
Big Daddy’s Original Bar-B-Q
BLK & Bold
Cie Cie’s Sweet Treats
G.G.’s Chicken & Waffles
Iowa Cookie Co.
Ken Supply Co.
Knotted Dough & Co.
Lyela’s Kitchen
Macaron Club
McCabe Artistry
Nadia’s French Bakery
Shay Design Studio
The Joy of Curls
Tranzitions Wellness & Beauty Bar
Wof Coffee
“The Downtown Farmers’ Market team is excited to welcome these new vendors to our already incredible lineup at The Market,” said Megan Renkel, Downtown Farmers’ Market Manager. “The new vendors bring a diverse variety of products and backgrounds that we hope will bolster the value our vendors provide throughout The Market season. We encourage Downtown residents and visitors to join us for the rest of the season to celebrate and support all of the local small business owners who make up The Market’s vendor lineup each week.”
The announcement of new vendors coincides with National Farmers’ Market Week scheduled for Aug. 7 – 13. Watch for content on the Downtown Farmers’ Market social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter throughout the week and make sure to celebrate at The Market.
