Hope Researcher to Provide Keynote Address at Leadership Conference Luncheon Public Invited to Attend

June 7, 2016

The Association of Leadership Programs Midwest Regional Conference will take place in Des Moines on June 16 and 17, 2016. The host organizations, Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and Regional Leadership Council of Central Iowa (a collaboration of 18 local leadership organizations), invite community members to attend the conference luncheon on June 17, featuring hope researcher, Shane Lopez. Ph.D.

Dr. Lopez, the world’s leading expert on hope, is a Gallup Senior Scientist and Research Director for the Clifton Strengths Institute. A critically acclaimed author and advocate for hope, his research has been highlighted in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Lopez spreads his advocacy for hope as a catalyst for understanding the impact mentality has on daily life.

The keynote address, Leading with Hope, will convey an important message for leaders: followers need hope. Followers look to leaders to capitalize on the spirit and ideas of the times, to dream big, and to motivate them toward a meaningful future. Lopez will share stories of a humble CEO, a larger than life mayor, and a doctor who takes care of dying children to demonstrate how leaders spread hope and motivate followers.

“My mission is to help people of all ages exercise some control over what their future can become and teach them how to aim for the future they want in school, work, and life,” says Dr. Lopez.

“The message of hope is relevant for any leader, especially those leading in the community,” says Amy Jennings, executive director of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute. “We are excited to provide a unique opportunity for community members to hear this strong, universal leadership message.”

Registrations for the June 17th luncheon and keynote address, sponsored by Kum & Go, are being accepted at gdmli.com. Individual seats as well as tables of eight are available for purchase.
