Five Nonprofit Organizations Named as Finalists in Anniversary Contest
Webspec Design has announced five nonprofit organizations as finalists in their “Game On: Celebrating Our Community” contest. Courage League Sports, Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC), Freedom for Youth, On With Life, and Pet Project Midwest were chosen from a large number of outstanding applications. Each nonprofit will now move on to a round of public voting beginning at Noon Sept. 1 and concluding at Noon Sept. 14.
The “Game On: Celebrating Our Community” contest was created in conjunction with Webspec’s 15 year anniversary to showcase excellent nonprofit organizations in Iowa and give back to a community that has given so much to Webspec. One nonprofit will take home a $5,000 grand prize and four runners-up will receive $1,250 each to use in advancing their organizations. To help voters decide on a winner, short videos of each nonprofit can be viewed at celebration.webspecdesign.com.
We were blown away by the number of organizations who submitted their nonprofit as part of Game On,” said Webspec Design owner and founder, Jeremiah Terhark. “We expected to see some good applications, but we had no idea how compelling the different stories would be to read and how difficult it would truly be to narrow the pool down to just five nonprofit organizations.”
In addition to the $10,000 awarded as part of the contest, Webspec Design will be providing a gift of $5,000 to the Hoover Presidential Foundation to be used as part of the Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award program. Terhark, a recipient of the award in 2001, used this monetary support to organize and build Webspec Design from the ground up.
