What You Need to Know About This Weekend’s Hy-Vee INDYCAR Races

This weekend’s Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend promises high-speed action, live musical performances from the likes of Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown Band and Ed Sheeran and behind-the-scenes experiences. As you prepare to attend the racing series on July 21 – 23 at the Iowa Speedway, here are a few things to keep in mind to make it easy to enjoy the competition. From family-friendly events to meet-and-greets with drivers, there is plenty of fun to be had during Race Weekend.

Concert Series

Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend concert performances kick off with Carrie Underwood’s performance at 11:50 a.m. prior to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on Saturday, July 22. Following the Hy-Vee Homefront 250 presented by Instacart, six-time GRAMMY Award nominee Kenny Chesney takes the stage at 4:30 p.m. On Sunday, July 23, country group Zac Brown Band performs at 11 a.m. before the Hy-Vee One Step 250 presented by Gatorade. Ed Sheeran will wrap up Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend with a performance at 4:15 p.m.

Free Family Friday

On Friday, July 21, Free Family Friday returns, following a popular debut last summer. Planning to attend? You’ll have the opportunity to take part in these exciting events:

• On-track action from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone rising stars when gates open at 2 p.m.
• Practice with INDY NXT by Firestone at 2:15 p.m.
• NTT INDYCAR SERIES “Fastest Short Track on the Planet” practice at 3:30 p.m.
• INDY NXT drivers sign autographs at 4 p.m.
• INDY NXT qualifying begins at 5:30 p.m.
• Meet-and-greet with NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers at 6:15 p.m.
• Track crossing areas open with access to paddock and garage area at 6:30 p.m. — fans can learn what Firestone Tires, AMR Safety Team and INDYCAR Technical Inspection do on race weekend!
• Track walk on racing surface at 7:15 p.m.
• Weekend Pit Stop Challenge featuring single-elimination, six-team competition at 7:30 p.m.

Don’t forget to visit Victory Lane, where you can take photos on the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend podium and imagine yourself as a racing champion!

Ticket Gate Re-Entry

Prior to departure, you must be stamped if you plan to re-enter. Upon return, you must also show your ticket and stamp to re-enter through the ticket gates.

Parking

There are several parking areas outside the track, including motorcycles and ADA parking. Paid event parking is available daily in the Fenceline Lot and Lot N. Purchases

The Iowa Speedway concessions and merchandise are cashless in 2023. During Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend, be sure to visit one of the Hy-Vee Mini Markets being offered this year. There are two locations: RV Hill Hy-Vee Mini Market and General Campground Hy-Vee Mini Market, both of which you order from and utilize grocery pickup services using Hy-Vee Aisles Online.
